The first week of the most popular soccer/football league is in the books. Spread out from Friday to Sunday with all 20 teams in action. Manchester United got off to a great start and an early penalty kick goal by Paul Pogba who has been the center of attention so far. After rumors of wanting out after some criticism from his coach on how much better he played with France than Manchester last season. Even after the game there was a tiff about him taking the penalty kick. Interesting to see how much longer this marriage lasts.

The Hot Spurs of Tottenham starts out 2018 with 3 points. Early action game with all 3 goals scored combined came by the 18th minute. World Cup Golden Boot winner Harry Kane was held scoreless.

Power house Chelsea starting the year right under new manager Maurizio Sarri. Second straight Italian coach but lets hope he fares much better then Antonio Conte who only lasted 2 seasons for the Blues. Dominating victory as expected over Huddersfield.

Champions League runners up Liverpool with a strong showing over West Ham. Good to see Mo Salah back and healthy after a rough World Cup with Egypt. Also debut for Keeper Alisson after his 62.5 million transfer from Roma in July. Picking up the clean sheet. Certainly expect Liverpool to contend with reigning Premier League champs Man City

The final match of the first week was those reigning champs Manchester City muting Arsenal. The new era for the Gunners starting out flat with this being their first match without former manager and Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger since 1996. Big boots to fill for new manager Unai Emery but most fans can agree it was time for a change.

Fixtures to look forward to next week

Chelsea v Arsenal
