My Thoughts on Jalen Ramsey’s Thoughts on Quarterbacks

Jalen Ramsey the now 3rd year pro for the Jacksonville Jaguars had some scorching hot takes yesterday morning when a GQ profile article came out on him. Negatively ripping 22 starting NFL quarterbacks is quite the stand to take. This is from a guy who is currently suspended for a week due to more negative comments about the media last week. The nation wide recognition of Ramsey started getting steam from all the talk and fights he was getting into. In his rookie year him and GOAT trash talker Steve Smith got into it. Last year he perplexed AJ Green to headlock and swing at him. Quite the confidence for a guy whose only had a cup of coffee in the league.

Typically offensive players are the ones to put targets on their back but Jalen and his number 20 will be what offensive lineman are looking for when running down field or on a screen pass. Better believe they will chop him and stand up for their quarterback. Now I love some good trash talk and players being honest and open but one must wonder why he went on this rampage? He showed some selfishness. Putting a target on your team and you specifically wont benefit anyone he plays with. Maybe if you didn’t have a top tier pass rush in the league your confidence and moxie wouldn’t be so high. Jags had the second most sacks in the league last year. Lets rundown and rate his lazy QB reviews.

Aaron Rodgers: Does not suck.

Tom Brady: Does not suck.

Stating the obvious for the top 2 quarterbacks in the game

Marcus Mariota: Great for the Titans.

What does that even mean? Would he not be great for other teams? Mariota who i like had 13 TD’s and 15 INT’s last year. Division foe so maybe holding off here.

Tyrod Taylor: “Actually a better quarterback than he gets credit for, because he does not make mistakes.”

Factual statement here. Tyrod low on turnovers and was dealt a raw deal by the Bills last year. He dosen’t necessarily win games but he wont lose them either.

Jimmy Garoppolo: Not sure if he’s sold on the hype yet.

Not enough to judge yet but he is the highest paid. Ramsey also said Jimmy G was ‘all schemes’

Deshaun Watson: “He’ll be the league MVP in a couple years.”

Could see this, definitely can be in the discussion. Played great for the Texans who’ve been searching for a QB pretty much their whole existence. Hopefully he’ll stay healthy this year.

Carson Wentz: Ramsey says Wentz and Watson will be battling for MVP trophy for the next five to 10 years.

Fair assumption. Could be the next wave of QB’s in the NFL.

Jared Goff: “average to above average… For what his team ask him to do, yeah, he’s good.”

Only through 2 years and showed great improvement last year. Good and can be great.

Dak Prescott: Good. Alright. OK. But Cowboys run through Ezekiel Elliott.

Fair. Dak benefits from offensive line and running game. Was lost when Zeke was suspended.

Kirk Cousins: “Winner” “Competitor.” “Coming off the play action, he’s the best quarterback in the league.”

I mean winner? Really for Kirk Cousins? Win a playoff game one time then maybe. Only made the postseason once and has a sub .500 record. Way off

Derek Carr: Good.

Fair. Hard to judge Carr. Was MVP talk before injury in 2016.

Eli Manning: “It’s not really Eli. I think it’s Odell [Beckham, Jr.]. I won’t say Eli’s good, I’ll say Odell’s good. And their connection is good.”

WRONG. I mean Eli won 2 superbowls without Odell. Was it Hakeem Nicks or Plaxico Burress back then when you were a little middle school boy Jalen? Last year went to hell not just cause Odell was out but 3 other recivers missed plenty of time. Still finished 19/13 TD/INT ratio.

Russell Wilson: Good. Good leader too.

Agreed. Does a lot for his team, especially wth a horrid pass protection.

Ben Roethlisberger: “Decent.” “It’s not Big Ben, it’s [Antonio Brown]. Big Ben slings the ball a lot of the time. He just slings it, and his receivers go get it… I played him twice last year, and he really disappointed me.”

Big Ben way better than decent. Just like Eli won 2 rings without Antonio Brown. I dont get it.

Drew Brees: Ramsey is a fan.

We’re all fans.

Andrew Luck: “I don’t really think he’s that good.”

Hard to judge a guy who didnt throw a pass last year. He’ll see Jalen twice this season.

Ryan Tannehill: Don’t know much about him.

After all these years neither do us.

Matthew Stafford: “He do what he gotta do.”

Guess that’s a compliment?

Philip Rivers: “Pretty good.”

Fair. Funny he ripped the two guys Rivers was drafted with and have rings (Ben and Eli) but praises the ring less one.

Matt Ryan: “Overrated.”

Had an off year last year but certainly top 10 QB. Not overrated.

Joe Flacco: “Sucks. I played him two years in a row. He sucks.”

I mean this is harsh. Joe is getting a little washed up but still had the Ravens a couple plays away from the playoffs.

Lamar Jackson: going to be good.

Maybe some ACC bias here. Lamar needs a few years.

Baker Mayfield: “…if they want that type of quarterback-confident, get out the pocket, throw on the run, big plays, charisma-then yeah, I understand Baker going number one.”

Another compliment I guess?

Josh Allen: Trash

Brutal. Hes got the tools. Sure he had real bad college games but being on an under talented Wyoming team didn’t help. We’ll see what he does with pro talent around him.

Didn’t say anything about Jameis Winston an ex college teammate of his. Also complimented Blake Bortles. Would love to hear what he really thinks of Blake when they aren’t teammates one day.

Stats Vs QB’s talked about

Funny how the quarterback thats played the worst vs him was Russell Wilson and he praised him. Also Luck seemed to have torched him with the second highest QB rating vs Ramsey.
